Le Modulor Le Corbusier's 007

Stephen Kieran & James Timberlake's update of Le Corbusier's Modular Man / from their 2003 text Refabricating Architecture

The Modulor is an anthropometric scale of proportions devised by the Swiss-born French architect Le Corbusier (1887–1965) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modulor. The first time that I showed my interpretation of the Modulor a friend of mine who is not an architect called it James Bond. I have always found this multilayer meaning of a symbol quite fascinating.

Anyways at first I found this analogy of the 007 and the Modulor a little surrealistic. After a long time I realized that I found the Modulor like an "agent" in Le Corbusier’s sketches, ideas, concepts, to bring back architecture back to its essence, towards its beginnings. Or as shown in the picture above, a contemporary rhetoric question in architecture.
A piece of contemporary jewelry, a must have for architects, but before anything else a reminder that we must never forget the humanistic and anthropometric scale in the space that we create.

Custom Made :The Cave of Wonders

Allegory of the cave
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_Cave\

"I see.

And do you see, I said, men passing along the wall carrying all sorts of vessels, and statues and figures of animals made of wood and stone and various materials, which appear over the wall? Some of them are talking, others silent.

You have shown me a strange image, and they are strange prisoners.

Like ourselves, I replied; and they see only their own shadows, or the shadows of one another, which the fire throws on the opposite wall of the cave?

True, he said; how could they see anything but the shadows if they were never allowed to move their heads?

And of the objects which are being carried in like manner they would only see the shadows?

Yes, he said.

And if they were able to converse with one another, would they not suppose that they were naming what was actually before them?

Very true.

And suppose further that the prison had an echo which came from the other side, would they not be sure to fancy when one of the passers-by spoke that the voice which they heard came from the passing shadow?

No question, he replied.

To them, I said, the truth would be literally nothing but the shadows of the images.

That is certain. "

Warm Welcome

Towards the design laboratory

A place to experiment new concepts, future ideas, dreams of wonderland and dreams from wonderland.

Towards the lasercut design

Soul ideogram. Skin and bones. Light and dark playfulness.
The laser cut design consists within itself the language of architecture, art and fashion. Construction and deconstruction which creates the shadow, the leftover from all that carving inside the material. An experiment in architecture: examining the limits of the Plexiglas, an adventure between the colors, ideas and forms. Lasercut Design is a link between the immaterial drawing and the material. Print of all the dreams, experiences, impressions on the senses, individualities. A sketch for the jewelry of the future.
